Glen now has an HD camera package for rent. The Panasonic HVX200 is the little brother to the Varicam, and packs most of the same features into a smaller and more affordable camera.

 

The HVX features a tapeless workflow as the DVCPRO HD files are captured right onto hard drive or flash media, this can then be directly imported into an Avid or Final Cut system.

 

This new tapeless digital workflow requires a new way of working on set; so as part of the package a “Digital Workflow Manager” who knows the camera, and the software system, comes out to assist the DOP / First AC. The DWM manages the computer and software, offloads the ‘footage’ to back-up drives and DVD, sets up camera capture settings as per DOP instructions, and attempts to keep the new workflow running smoothly.
